‘Mean Girls High School Version’ Is so Fetch
On Wednesdays we wear pink and on April 16 - 19 you can see Mean Girls High School Version take center stage at Cornwall Central High School. The musical, based on the iconic 2004 film, was nominated for an astonishing 12 Tony Awards! The CCHS Drama Club and Music Department agree….It’s going to be SO fetch!
Nothing can prepare new student Cady Heron, played by Alyssa Aleman, for her fierce new high school in the United States, where she must face The Plastics. The frenemies trio rules the school, led by their queen bee, Regina George, played by Fiala Query & Olivia Cushna, Gretchen Wieners, played by Maeve Fogarty and Karen Smith, played by Emma Halvorsen. Guiding Cady through the high school drama are her new friends and comedic duo Damian, played by Bennett Tolman & James Lahtinen, and Janis, played by Evyn Lovell & Sasha Cuthbert. Scroll below for the list of our 75 talented cast members and 75 pit musicians performing from CCHS.
The ensemble cast floods the stage with song and dance for catchy numbers like “Apex Predator” and “Meet the Plastics.” Audience members will quickly slip right back into their high school days—if they aren’t there already—and enjoy a fun night reminiscing about teen friendships, love and angst. There may even be a cameo from Danny Devito or your favorite high school staff.
CONTENT WARNING
Mean Girls is a PG-13 production and contains adult themes, strong language, plus depictions of mature situations that may not be appropriate for all audiences.
The musical is based on the 2004 film and while the Mean Girls High School Version script contains some revisions from the movie and the original Broadway Musical, it follows the plot of the film faithfully, with much of the original dialogue and scenes included. Parents of younger children are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the movie or musical soundtrack before purchasing tickets. Moments of the show may not be suitable for younger audiences.
While Mean Girls contains mature content, it also provides an opportunity for meaningful dialogue about healthy vs. unhealthy friendships, social media, bullying, name calling, social expectations and other important topics that adolescents face on a daily basis. We have engaged in these conversations during the rehearsal process, and hope the show will invite audience members to do the same.
After months of hard work, the CCHS Drama Club and Music Department are eager to take center stage in front of the Cornwall community April 16 - 19. How grool is that?
