Cornwall Central School District

In May 2022, District voters approved multiple crucial propositions establishing the District’s trajectory toward continuous improvement of our school buildings and facilities. 

Included were two propositions for capital projects totaling just over $23 million.  This work was divided into three phases and included improvements to all school buildings. With the exception of the window replacement project at Cornwall-on-Hudson Elementary School, which will be finished in the Summer of 2026, all work associated with these projects has been completed. 

Although this capital project was the biggest investment our community has made in our facilities in a generation, there is more work to be done.  There were many projects identified during the planning process in 2022 that didn’t quite make the cut – in the ensuing four years these issues have become more immediate needs.  The District’s administration and the school board meet regularly, constantly planning and looking for ways to tackle these additional improvements.

As part of its strategic planning process launched in February 2026, The Cornwall Central School District is conducting a District-wide survey from March 2nd - March 20th. The survey is open to employees, parents, students, and community members without students in the District. Involvement of the entire community is important to the long-term framework for decision-making that builds upon the common values held by the Cornwall community.

“Effective education of students requires a commitment from our entire community, and we are excited about this inclusive strategic planning process that gives all our stakeholders an opportunity to participate,” said Megan Argenio, Interim Superintendent. “I encourage our community to take advantage of this opportunity to inform the future direction of our schools.”

The Strategic Plan Survey link will be available on the District’s website from March 2nd - March 20th, 2026. The survey offers residents an opportunity to answer questions about their perceptions of the schools and their vision for the future of the community’s schools. The link will take participants to a third-party website and all responses will remain anonymous.

Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA), an independent research firm, is conducting the online survey. They will analyze responses and prepare a Strategic Plan report for the District to share with the community in the fall of 2026.
